Architecture & Layout:
ActCity, a classic map from the tiems of AQ2, contians a wide variety of areas, ranging from a very open stair case leading to the casino, to the narrow staircase leading to a second floor sniping post. You really get to specialize in whatever weapons you like, because no matter which you shoose, there is at least one place where you can optimize its efficiency. It's not a large map, which eliminates the LMS problem of the last two players hunting for eachother in a circle. All in all very good architecture, although not perfect, it obviously has a lot of different ways of approaching the level. My favorite of course, being the parking structure, since I love sniping.

Looks:
Ever since I saw the AQ2 version of this map, I've knows it would be hard to compete with its dark alleys, and well textured buildings. I must say that although it does lose a little bit of reality from time to time, it does offer a pleasing atmosphere in which to frag unwilling opponents. My only complaint about this level, is the lack of exploration. Theres very little interior, which makes the bricks and asphalt get very repetative. If it had more variety it would have gotten a ten.

Gameplay:
This has got to be one of the best levels I've seen as far an fun goes. It caters to all player types, and since it isn't a big circle, it forces more confrontation as far as Team Play and LMS are concerned. This creates a wonderfully fast paced game which is usually a crowd pleaser. It's also a rush to kick sombody down an elevator. That definately topped this map off.

Item Placement:
Since it is a small map, fast paced games are common as far as DM is concerned. Although it wouldn't have killed the author to add a few more ammunition spawns, just the fact that dead people leave guns usually offers enough ammo for a good shootout. I really can't complain about the weapons, and I think he found a happy medium. Besides, lack of ammo forces Kung Fu from time to time, and that's OK by me.

Other:
I have to say that this has got to be my favorite map. It has been ever since AQ2, and it will continue to be, as long as my maps remain unreleased. I simply adore this map to no end. It has yet to produce a bad game for me.

Conclusion:
As far as maps go, this is about as good as you get from a free mod. I would love to see this map manifest itself in all the upcoming Action mods. Everyone can play this map. Newbies, Vets, and even Whiny Bitches agree, ActCity is the place to be!
