Bankdoom
Bankdoom by Banana and DOOManiac. Doombank was one of the oldest maps released with AHL beta4, and it was also the least texturally advanced ones. However, it was and still is a great map and fun to play. DOOManiac, original author of Doombank, and banana, AHL's resident texture genius, teamed up to revamp Doombank with improved game play areas and much better texturing. Bankdoom is the new beta5 version of Doombank; however, Bankdoom is so much different and so much better than its predecessor, that it feels like it is a completely different map.
This map is based roughly upon a local bank's check-processing center, where DOOManiac works. They don't deal with customers; it's strictly working with paper and managing accounts. But it just so happens that this building makes a superb AHL map. The beta5 version still utilizes the same layout as DOOManiac's workplace but it looks a whole lot different now because of banana's retexturing.
Strategy and how well you use it begins as a question of experience. Players who have been in servers running Doombank will know how to get around and what strategy to use, since Bankdoom uses an identical layout. However, this isn't to say that new players can't master this great map. Bankdoom is still a map with very much close range combat, so watch out for a lot of Hand Cannon use, as well as shotguns, as these weapons are the kings of close range combat. The mp5 and Akimbo weapons also prove to be effective in this map, however the m4 and sniper rifles tend to be less suitable. Of course, old knife pros won't be disappointed here either. A major plus of Bankdoom is the way rounds are played. Bankdoom has such flow to it that rounds are often exciting and Action packed, starting quickly and ending just as fast by the blade of your knife. The weapons are placed intelligently in side rooms, or on top of ladders in death match modes. You can find them in the same spots as in the old beta4 Doombank; the only change is that you can now also find single Saa's and Colt 1911's in the map...
The beta5 game
play
changes are: no more irritating double front doors, as well as the wall that separates
the two hallways being made thicker. The computer room and toilets do not
open in round based games, so campers have to find other spots to hide from
those silent Hand Cannon players. Some rooms were outfitted with windows for easier access and there is
a new way into the Storage Room, involving large explosions! These changes make
a good map even better. And last but not least, new music in the sorter room
by the Action Community's own [A$Z]Borg!
